Gold plating or gold plating, as the name suggests, is a process in which a standard thickness layer of gold is applied to silver and other metals such as brass, nickel, and copper. When a metal such as silver is covered with gold water, that metal, in addition to getting a unique shine and beauty, becomes more resistant to corrosion and oxidation.

Therefore, the purpose of plating metals with gold is not only beauty. For example, some electronic parts are coated with gold to make them more resistant to corrosion and oxidation, and of course to increase their conductivity, because gold has high conductivity. When you cover metal with gold, the gold coating wears off after a period of time (depending on the thickness of the coating) and you have to re-plate it with gold.
In general, it can be said that all metals can be coated with gold, even iron. Accordingly, some profiteers cover iron with gold and sell it to inexperienced people as gold. To avoid such a problem when buying gold, you can use a magnet, because gold and silver do not stick to magnets.
A gold plating machine can be used to plate a piece with gold. This device has a tank containing an electrolyte solution that when the current is established by the power supply of the device, gold ions from the electrolyte go to the part and stick to its surface. Gold plating process steps

Preparing and cleaning the surface of the piece – Before the piece to be plated is placed in the gold plating machine, it must be well cleaned and polished. For this purpose, you can use a brush to remove any dirt and dust from it. For this purpose, you can even wash the piece with water and detergent to remove any grease, dirt and debris from it. The cleaner the surface of the piece to be plated, the better the adhesion of the gold coating on the surface of the piece.
Lysing – in this step, the desired part is placed in a solution containing distilled water and sulfuric acid, and then it is washed with distilled water.
Polishing – in this step, using sandpaper, the surface of the piece is smoothed so that the gold adheres better to the surface.
Plating the piece with a metal other than gold – in this step, the piece that is going to be plated with gold is coated with another metal such as nickel, so that during the process of coating with gold, the gold sticks better on the surface of the piece. After this step, the desired piece is washed well.
Gold plating – in this step, the piece is coated with gold using the machine.
